The Geological Survey of Estonia (EGT) operates in the following areas:

geological mapping,
geological surveys,
preservation of and ensuring access to geological information,
advising of government authorities,
informing the public about matters concerning the earth’s crust.

EGT is a state agency and started operating on January 1st, 2018 in the administrative area of the Ministry of Economy and Communications. From July 1, 2023 EGT operates under the administration of the Ministry of Climate.
